Discover the Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne mills

Anjou is the French region that have the most number of mills within it: more than 1 200 windmills and 700 watermills! Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne is not an anomaly with 6 windmills and 4 watermills. This exhibition were the best way to discover what was their history!

The Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne Priory Association shone a light on the flour mill history of our village, part of Brissac Loire Aubance city. It presented the first results of its researches on this so distinctive part of the Anjou heritage.

You can now discover some clarifications on their architecure, their innovations and also little stories about them thanks to a booklet available in the shop of the Priory.
